Chromatic Accordions

The Chromatic button accordion is the instrument of choice for many accordion virtuosos in Europe. The buttons are arranged in 3 basic rows with a diagonal row being a minor second apart (see diagram). 2 other rows repeat the first 2 rows, giving the player many options in fingering. The diagonal arrangement also allows for a greater octive range than that achievable on a piano accordion.

	The button arrangement with the 2 repeating rows makes transposition very easily. You simply start your music on a different button and keep the same fingering pattern.
